The Founder
Thadee Uwimana
Having grown up in an ultra-poor community where access to basic needs, livelihoods, health care, and education was a privilege rather than a right, has shaped Thaddee, The founder, into a social change maker who speaks out on behalf of those whose voices can’t be heard. He founded Raise Hope Community organization to liberate miserable women and girls from exploitation, exchange their bodies as sex workers to afford basic life needs, and find ways to feed their families. Thaddee calls to end gender-based violence against women and teen mothers, fight chronic hunger, and initiate the reintegration of survivors, of missed deaths of women and children resulting from poverty to create a pathway that restores women’s lives and empowers them with the essential means to overcome life-threatening issues affecting their health, social, economic, and gender within society, ensuring a prosperous community.
Vision
A world free of poverty and hunger within reach of everyone, everywhere.
Mission
We implement integrated programs that empower women and impoverished communities towards self-reliance and improved quality of life.
Our History
In 2019, the founder Thaddee encountered
heartbreaking conditions in the Banda slum, where hunger, gender violence, and
lack of basic needs caused immense suffering. This forced some women and girls to
trade their bodies for survival, while others faced broken livelihoods and crushed
hopes. Children were stunted, teen pregnancies soared, and many orphaned
children were heading families. In response, Raise Hope Community was started
to save and restore lives, empower women, and offer essential support.
Committed to lifting people from despair, the organization works tirelessly to
secure livelihoods, rebuild hope, and promote developmental strategies in Banda
and neighboring villages, ensuring a brighter future for the community. Donate
to us in creating lasting change.
Our Model
We implement The SEED (Sustainable Entrepreneurship for Economic and Development). The SEED is a poverty Graduation program lasting between 24 to 36 months. This was adapted based on global validity conceptualized to graduate millions of households out of extreme poverty in order of series interventions with a defined exit plan.
Our Approach
There
is no one-size-fits-all approach to poverty alleviation, our works reflect on 3
pillars of the strategy of
transformation to break the cycle of poverty and bring hope for the future. We work with the community to re-create a sustainable and equitable futures
